West Point, NY – The Wagner men's tennis team dropped a pair of non-conference matches on Saturday, falling to Patriot League members, Army West Point, and Monmouth of the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) by identical 4-0 scores.
With the loss, the Seahawks stand at 8-8 on the season while the Black Knights improve to 13-9 on the season while the Hawks moved to 6-13.
Wagner vs. Army West Point:
- The Seahawks were shutout in Saturday's opener against the host, Army West Point.
- The Black Knights took two of three doubles matches from Wagner.
- The Seahawk duo of junior Eric Poland and sophomore Dylan Walters edged Myles Conlin/Dylan Simonsen, 6-4.
- For Poland/Walters, the combo moves to 12-6 overall on the season and are a team-best 9-3 out of the No.2 position this season.
Wagner vs. Monmouth:
- In a battle between longtime Northeast Conference (NEC) members, the Monmouth Hawks recorded four singles victories in preserving the victory as doubles matches were not played.
- Wagner was in the match but couldn't come up with the points they needed in staging a win.
Wagner resumes NEC-play on Sunday, April 8 as they travel to Fairleigh Dickinson.
