Poughkeepsie, NY – No. 1-seeded Wagner defeated No. 4 Virginia Military Institute, 18-5, on Saturday to advance to the 2018 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Water Polo Championship game, marking the eighth consecutive time that the Seahawks will compete in the title game.
Wagner (23-6) , which has defeated Marist in the last four MAAC Championship games, will meet the Red Foxes for a fifth consecutive year on Sunday April 29, at 2:00 p.m., in a matchup that will be streamed live on
ESPN 3. The No. 2-seeded Red Foxes gained a spot in the championship game by besting third-seeded Iona, 7-4, in Saturday's second semifinal matchup.
In reaching the MAAC Championship game for a record 13
th time, Wagner improves to 43-0 against MAAC opponents, dating back to April 12, 2015.
First-Team All-MAAC selection,
Erica Hardy, led the charge today for Wagner with six goals, while MAAC Offensive Player of the Year,
Kimberly Watson, found the back of the net four times. With the first of her four strikes in today's contest, Watson reached the century mark and and will enter the title game with 103 on the season.
In winning their 15
th straight game, the 18
thranked Seahawks led wire-to-wire, with their largest lead of 13 coming at 16-3 with 33 seconds left in the third period.

Daisy Nankervis each scored two goals apiece. Senior attack

Donkin also dished out six assists.
Defensively,
Katherine Campbell held tough in the cage, blocking nine shots on goal to help Wagner advance to the
MAAC Championship.
