Fairfield, CT – The Wagner College women's tennis team fell to the Fairfield University, 6-1, on Saturday afternoon at the WAC Tennis Courts.
With the loss, the Seahawks fall to 1-2 on the season while the Stags remain undefeated, improving to 3-0 on the season.
Despite dropping two of three matches in doubles action, the Seahawk pairing of team captains,
Vedika Anand and
Rina Baynes, earned their third win of the season and second out of the No. 1 position as they defeated Diana Prinos and Anna Komer, 7-5.
The Green & White's lone victory of the match came at No. 1 singles as sophomore
Fidan Khalilzade earned her third straight victory playing out of the No. 1 spot, besting Prinos, 6-4, 4-6, 10-6.
Wagner returns to the courts on Saturday, October 13, as they will host the St. Francis Brooklyn Terriers in Northeast Conference (NEC) action. The match starts at 1:00 p.m. from the Wagner Tennis Courts.
