Staten Island, NY – In a game that was tied four times in the second half, it was Robert Morris who was able to score the final goal with 1:07 to play in surviving a 15-14 Northeast Conference (NEC) shootout over Wagner at sun-splashed Hameline Field this afternoon.

In dropping their second straight hard-fought one-goal decision, on the heels of Friday's 10-9 loss to Saint Francis U, the defending NEC champions fall to 0-2 in league play while RMU moves to 2-0 in conference and 8-4 overall.

Junior midfielder Lauren Ednie (Verona, NJ / Verona) matched her career-high with four goals and assisted on another while junior attacker Heidi Colford (Eden Praire, MN / Eden Praire) continued her torrid scoring pace with a team-high six points on three goals and three assists.

Colford, who has collected 12 goals and 11 assists over her last six games, is now the team's scoring leader with 36 points on 19 goals and a team-high 17 assists. The Seahawks had three players who tallied a hat trick or more on the day, as junior midfielder Marjorie Dehm (Baldwinsville, NY / C.W. Baker / Vermont) came within one goal of her career-high, notching her fourth hat trick of the season,

Junior midfielder April Simmons (Branford, CT / Branford) added three points on two goals and one assist with her goals coming just 19 seconds apart early in the second half, an outburst that capped a 3-0 run and forged the game's first tie of the second half at 10-10. Sophomore attacker Anna Belle Reilly (Paradise Valley, AZ / Notre Dame Prep), the Seahawks' second-leading scorer on the year with 35 points (24g, 11a), added two points on one goal and one assist.

Two-time All-NEC selection Amanda Rey (Turnersville, NJ / Washington Township) was active and productive on the defensive end, recording team highs with five caused turnovers and five groundballs.

Wagner alternated goalies for the eighth time this season as Kelsey Fee (White Plains, NY / White Plains / Ithaca) and Lucy Darlington (Timonoim, MD / Notre Dame Preparatory) combined for three saves with Fee playing the first half before Darlington came on to play the second half.

Simmons' second straight goal at the 22:54 mark of the second half the tied it at 10-10, triggering a stretch where the teams alternated the next five goals, as the game was also tied at 11-11, 12-12 and for the final time at 14-14. This tie came off a 2-0 run as RMU was leading 14-12 before Dehm scored two straight goals, making it a 14-13 game at the 4:38 mark before knotting it at 14-14 after receiving a Simmons feed with just 1:55 left to play.

Colford gave Wagner possession by winning the ensuing draw control but the Colonials forced a turnover at the 1:38 mark. After RMU patiently worked the ball around the perimeter of the arc, Annie Sachs drew a foul at the 1:07 mark and buried the clutch free position shot to put Robert Morris ahead 15-14. RMU then won the ensuing draw control and was able to run out the clock in hanging on for the win.

Dana Davis paced the Colonials offensively with six points on four goals and two assists, Sachs also sank four goals while Mackenzie Gandy added three goals and an assist. Katelyn Miller picked up the win in goal, recording eight saves in a route-going performance between the pipes.

The statistics were as close as the final score could indicate with teams finishing tied in both shots (28-28) and groundballs (24-24) while Wagner eked out a slight 16-15 edge in draw controls. The Seahawks and Colonials engaged in a physical battle throughout, committing a combined 67 fouls (Wagner 34, RMU 33), and seven yellow cards (RMU 5, Wagner 2). The Seahawks were also assessed a rare green card in the second half for delay of game.

The Green & White return to action on Friday, April14 when they travel to Emmitsburg, MD for a 1:00 p.m. contest with the Mountaineers before returning home on Friday, April 21 to host Sacred Heart in a 3:00 p.m. start.

NOTE – Wagner has three players tied for the team with 24 goals in Reilly, Ednie and Dehm.
