Men's Tennis Defeats Division II No. 9 Ranked Post University, 9-0, On Sunday Afternoon

Middlebury, CT – For the second time in three years, the Wagner College men's tennis team have posted double-digit wins after securing their tenth victory of the 2016-17 season, blanking the Post University Eagles, 9-0, on Sunday afternoon.

The Seahawks improve to 10-6 on the season while the Eagles fall to 8-6. Post University entered as the No. 9 Regionally Ranked team in Division II.

Wagner went ahead 3-0 in the match after taking all three doubles matches. Ilya Kneppelhout and Hans Ohrner earned their first victory as duo in No. 3 action as they posted an 8-1 victory over Joe Alvord/Peter Rossel. In No. 2 action, Eric Poland and Dylan Walters move to 5-1 as a tandem after earning an 8-2 victory over Ludvig Henrikson/Samuel Urban. Lastly, the pairing of Anatoliy Lashkul and Dale Sandy earned their 15th win of the and improve to 11-3 out of the Flight No. 1 position after they defeated Nikola Crvelin/Ivan Rajevac, 9-7. 

In singles action, Poland earned his 21st singles victory and tenth win of the 2017 campaign after winning at No. 5 over Rossel, 6-0; 6-1. Lashkul earned a 6-0; 6-3 triumph at No. 1 for his 12th singles win of the season. Sandy recorded his 20th career singles win after defeating Rajevac, 6-2; 6-3, at No. 2. Walters, Kneppelhout and Ohrner each were victorious in securing the 9-0 victory, as Kneppelhout picked up his 23rd career win.

The Seahawks will be back in action on April 5, as they travel to America East members, Stony Brook, for a 1:00 p.m. contest in their final road contest of the season.
