New York. NY – In a wild, back-and-forth game that featured eight ties and eight lead changes, Columbia used a late 5-0 run to overcome a two-goal deficit and held on to defeat Wagner 14-10 in women's lacrosse action tonight at Robert K. Kraft Field.
With the loss, the Seahawks conclude the non-conference portion of their schedule with a record of 2-8, while the Lions of the Ivy League improve to 6-4 on the season.
The defending Northeast Conference (NEC) champions kick off league play next weekend with home contests vs. Saint Francis U on April 7, followed by a meeting with Robert Morris on April 9.

Anna Belle Reilly (Paradise Valley, AZ / Notre Dame Prep) and sophomore midfielder
Marjorie Dehm (Baldwinsville, NY / C.W. Baker / Vermont) tossed in three goals apiece to lead the Seahawks offensively.

Heidi Colford (Eden Prairie, MN / Eden Prairie) added two goals while senior attacker
Olivia Streilein (Lenape. NJ / Mt. Laurel) also finished with two points on one goal and one assist. Freshman midfielder
Talia Bouzakis (Mullica Hill, NJ / Clearview) rounded out the Seahawk scoring with one goal, finding the net for the fourth consecutive game.
In addition to her hat trick, Reilly added an assist to finish with four points while collecting a team-high four draw controls. Senior defender
Amanda Rey (Turnersville, NJ / Washington Township) led Wagner with five groundballs while tying for team-high honors in caused turnovers with two. Junior
Kelsey Fee (White Plains, NY / White Plans / Ithaca) went the distance in goal and was credited with nine saves.
Taylor Quinn notched the first of her game-high five goals 47 seconds into the game. Remarkably the teams then alternated goals for the next 13 scores as the game was tied at every digit from one to eight (1-1, 2-2, 3-3, 4-4, 5-5, 6-6, 7-7).
An unassisted goal by Bouzakis with just eight seconds left in the first half, forged the seventh tie of the opening half as the teams entered intermission tied at 7-7. Dehm put Wagner in front, 8-7, on a free position shot, followed by an unassisted tally by Reilly, which gave the Seahawks their first multi-goal lead of the game at 9-7 with 19:46 left.
The Lions, however, roared back with five unanswered goals over a 12-minute stretch in building a 12-9 lead with 7:28 remaining. The Seahawks got within two on Dehm's third goal of the game at the 4:22 mark to make it 12-10 but Columbia tacked on two more in the final 3:35 to fashion the 14-10 final score.
Quinn paced the Lions with five goals while Lindsey Ewertsen and Carline Joy added four and two goals, respectively. In goal, Kelsey Gedin recorded eight saves in notching the win.
