Staten Island, NY – The Wagner College softball team fell in both games of its final doubleheader of the 2016 season to LIU Brooklyn on Sunday afternoon by scores of 6-0 and 5-0.
With the losses, the Seahawks conclude their season with an overall record of 20-29 and 4-12 in the Northeast Conference (NEC). LIU Brooklyn extends its win-streak to 14 games and secured the No. 1 seed in the NEC tournament and will host next week.
Game 1 Recap: LIU Brooklyn 6 Wagner 0
After two scoreless innings of play in game one, the Blackbirds broke open the game notching three runs in the top half of the third inning. The LIU Brooklyn squad never looked back as they added another two in the fifth inning and one in seventh to blank the Seahawks 6-0.

Brianna Tredway (Downingtown, PA/Downingtown West) and sophomore
Maddie Marable (Reno, NV/Earl Wooster) put runners on first and second with two outs, but they were left stranded as the next Seahawk batter grounded out to the Blackbirds' second baseman.

Karen Prihoda (Hamilton Square, NJ/The Lawrenceville School) was 2-for-3 in the contest while senior catcher
Megan Moore (Pottstown, PA/Owen J. Roberts) registered the other hit for the Seahawks when she singled up the middle to lead off the fifth inning.
Game 2 Recap: LIU Brooklyn 5 Wagner 0
In the second game, LIU Brooklyn put up three unanswered runs in the third inning before extending its lead to 5-0 in the sixth inning off of a Celinna Cosio two-run homer.
Wagner recorded six hits during the contest. Prihoda was 3-for-4 en route to finishing the day going 5-for-7 overall. Senior catcher
Brenda Bott (Fountain Valley, CA/Fountain Valley) was 2-for-2 while Tredway was 1-for-3.
In the circle, sophomore
Morgan Brown (Buckeye, AZ/Verrado) took the loss (7-15) after striking out three batters while scattering nine hits. The Blackbirds Tallie Woodson (8-7) was credited with the win after striking out three batters and giving up six hits.
The Seahawks posed threats in the fourth and fifth innings, getting two runners on but were left stranded as the score remained 5-0 in LIU Brooklyn's favor.
