The Aztecs scored the first three goals of the contest, two of which came on man-up opportunities. Makena Magro, Nikole Ferrari, and Caroline Israels each tallied scores during the run for San Diego State. Wagner answered at the 4:22 mark of the first period when sophomore Kimberly Watson (Pointe-Claire, Quebec/ John Rennie) delivered home a strike to get the Green & White into the scoring column. Ferrari would find the back of the net once again, late in the opening stanza to give the Aztecs a 4-1 advantage.

San Diego State opened the second quarter with a quick strike goal from Alyssa Diacono but the Seahawks would respond less than 50 seconds later when senior center Jess Lundgren (Queensland, Australia/ Mountain Creek) tallied off a lob shot that dropped in over the goalies reach to bring the score to 5-2. Diacono ripped home a goal with over two minutes left in the half for San Diego State on a man-up chance that extended their lead to 6-2 at the break.

Diacono would tally once more to open the third quarter to complete her hat trick for the Aztecs. Seniors Lily Doerfler (Annapolis, MD/ Broadneck) and Megan Rodriguez (Danville, CA/ San Ramon Valley) would connect for the Seahawks third tally of the game. After battling for position in front of the net, Doerfler would connect on an assist from Rodriguez. The Seahawks had a chance to cut the deficit to three before the end of the third as Begg ripped a shot on goal but San Diego State goalkeeper Rachel Mitchell made a key diving save.

Lundgren tallied her second and the final goal of the contest in the fourth period. She managed to score once again on an off-speed attempt that floated past the goalie. The Seahawks would drop the game by the final tally of 7-4.

Junior goalie Emily Riddle (Edmonton, Alberta/ Dr. E.P. Scarlett) recorded six saves during the game including a massive stop in the fourth on a semi fast break.

Wagner out shot San Diego State 25-20 however Mitchell registered 11 blocks for the Aztecs.
