ResultsStaten Island, NY - The Wagner men's tennis team dropped a 5-2 decision against the Sacred Heart University Pioneers at the Wagner Tennis Courts in Northeast Conference (NEC) action on Sunday afternoon.
With the loss, the Seahawks fall to 7-10; 1-2 in league play while the Pioneers improve to 7-11 and 2-1 in the circuit.
Wagner managed to win at No. 2 Flight Doubles as the pairing of sophomore
Charlton Boyd (Shreveport, LA/Loyola College Prep) and freshman
Ilya Kneppelhout (Wobrugge, Netherlands/Scala College Secondary School) improved to a team-best 13-3 overall and 10-3 in dual doubles contests, as they defeated Cory Seltman and Mathieu Pilote, 6-4.
Additionally, today's win by Boyd/Kneppelhout improves to 4-1 out of the No. 2 doubles position this season.
In singles action, Boyd bested Karan Narula, 6-1; 6-3 to pick up his 30th career singles victory as the second-year Seahawk now stands at 30-14 overall and 24-11 in dual matches.
The only other win for the Green & White on the afternoon came in No. 5 Flight Singles as sophomore
Allen Wang (Clovis, CA/Buchanan) defeated Pilote, 8-5. For the second-year Seahawk, Wang picked up his 18th career singles victory and improves to 5-1 out of the No. 5 position for his career.
The Seahawks will start a busy week with its final road contest of the season on Tuesday, April 12 as they travel to America East member, Stony Brook, for a 1:00 p.m. match.
