ResultsWest Windsor, NJ – The Wagner men's tennis season came to an end in the semifinals of the 2015 Northeast Conference (NEC) Championships as the fifth-seeded Seahawks fell to the top-seeded Bryant University Bulldogs, 4-0, on Saturday afternoon.
With the loss, the Seahawks finish the season 14-10, the most victories produced by the program over the last five years.
"It's been an incredible year," said head coach
Danny Kreyman. "Our young guys have grown tremendously and they've bonded together. I'm excited to see them continue to improve in the future."
Bryant secured the doubles point to take a 1-0 lead over the Green & White as Ernesto Arguello and Zachary Morris edged the freshman pairing of
Ryan Khan (Weston, FL/University School) and
Charlton Boyd (Shreveport, LA/Loyola College Prep), 8-5, in Flight #2 Doubles.
The duo of Oliver Welsh and Luke Lorenz ousted
Allen Wang (Clovis, CA/Buchanan) and
Jakob Mostyn-Kolb (Melbourne, FL/Melbourne), 8-3.
In singles action, Bryant took #4, #5, #6 to advance to Sunday's championship for the third-straight year. The #1 flight match between freshman
Michal Rolski (Kielczow, Poland/Oak Meadow [VT]) and Matt Kuhar went unfinished after Rolski took the first set, 6-2, and Kuhar was up 4-2 in the second set when play was stopped.
The Seahawks look forward to 2015-2016 with great optimism as this year's roster did not feature a single senior.
