Emmitsburg, MD – The Wager men's tennis team fell to Mount St. Mary's 4-3 in a hard-fought, back-and-forth Northeast Conference (NEC) match on Sunday afternoon.

With the loss, Wagner falls  to 7-6 on the season and 1-1 in conference play while the Mountaineers improve to 6-3 overall and 1-0 in NEC action.

The Mount secured the doubles point after taking all three matches.The Green & White nearly took the No. 2 Doubles match as the freshmen pair of Ryan Khan (Weston, FL/University School) and Charlton Boyd (Shreveport, LA/Loyola College Prep) were edged by the duo of Austin Blake and Brandon Wortkotter, 8-7 (8-6).

All six flight singles matches were tight, competitive matches. Reigning NEC and Rookie of the Month Michal Rolski (Kielczow, Poland/Oak Meadow (VT) saw his seven-match winning streak come to a halt as he was was defeated by Blake, 7-6 (7-2), 6-2 in No. 1 Singles.

The Seahawks were victorious at No. 2 Singles as Khan battled back from an early deficit in posting a 3-6, 6-2, 6-1 decision over Mateo Desomocurcio. The Mount's Adam Salam then got past freshman Juan Alanis (Mexico City, Mexico/K12 International Academy) 6-3, 7-6 (7-5) which gave the Mountaineers a 3-1 lead in the match. 

The Seahawks were triumphant at both No. 4 and No. 5 Singles as freshman Allen Wang (Clovis, CA/Buchanan) locked up a 6-4, 6-4 decision over Darren Mast at No. 4 Singles while Boyd was victorious over Louis Tonon, 2-6, 6-3, 6-4 at No. 5, to even the match at 3-3.

The Mountaineers then clinched the match at No. 6  Singles as Peter Salomon took a 6-3, 6-1 win over sophomore Sam Flaxman (Avon, CT/Avon).

The Green & White will be back in action on March 20 when they travel to Hempstead, NY to take on Hofstra University.
