Staten Island, NY – The Wager women's soccer team suffered a tough 3-1 Northeast Conference (NEC) loss to Robert Morris on Hameline field this afternoon.

With the loss the Seahawks drop to 2-10-1, 1-2-0 in conference play while the Colonials improve to 6-8-0 and 2-1-0 in the NEC.

The two team's played a gritty match throughout as each team received one yellow card a piece and a total of 15 fouls occurred in 90 minutes.

Robert Morris struck first in the 29th minute, Kristie Hamilton fed a pass to Cassie Raymond who found a wide open net and sunk one to take the lead.

Wagner responded just five minutes later when the Seahawks put pressure in the Colonial box. Junior midfielder Megan Fritz (Cape Coral, FL/Mariner) made a pass to senior forward Samantha Jensen (Ocean Gate, NJ/Central Regional) in the box. Robert Morris goalkeeper Chelsea de Jager came out and dove to try to grab the ball. An aggressive Jensen got the ball while de Jager was on the ground and took a low sharp kick to the left side to tie the game 1-1.

In the second half, the Seahawks executed several opportunities but struggled to find the back of the net. Fritz came close with a header but de Jager came up with a kick save to spare the Colonials the lead. Fritz had another opportunity with a header along with junior forward Diana Saber (Syosset, NY/Syosset) but both were saved by de Jager.

With just under seven minutes, Robert Morris's Kayla Kelley took a header off a corner kick to get past Seahawk goalkeeper Katie Viscardi (Hazlet, NJ/Mater Dei Prep). The Colonials were then granted a penalty kick with five minutes left. Maleha Kureishy was credited with the kick to make it 3-1.

Viscardi went the distance between the pipes, recording a team and career-high of 11 saves, one of which included a diving safe in the second half.

Robert Morris outshot Wagner 22-11, 13 of the shots came in the second half. The 11 Seahawk shots came from seven different players, Fritz leading with four.
