Staten Island, NY -
Sacred Heart defeated Wagner 5-1 in Northeast Conference (NEC) tennis action at the Wagner Tennis Courts.

In defeat, the Seahawks fall to 1-12 and 0-3 in the NEC while the Pioneers improve to 6-9 and 3-2 in the league.

The Green & White started the match by claiming the doubles point with an impressive comeback. After losing at No. 2 by an 8-3 count, the tandem of sophomore Sawyer Fonda (Kelowna, British Columbia / Okanagan Mission Secondary) and freshman Devon Flint (Pine Bush, NY / Pine Bush) posted an 8-6 win at No. 3. Sophomore Christian Grau (Dallas, TX / Spring Creek Academy) and freshman Sam Flaxman (Avon, CT / Avon) then recorded an 8-4 victory at No. 1 to secure the doubles point.

Unfortunately, from that point on it would be all Sacred Heart as the Pioneers won all five singles point with play at No. 6 halted.

The Green & White returns to action on Sunday, April 13 against St. Francis Brooklyn at 12:00 pm.
