Staten Island, NY – Quarterback Brandon Hill completed 12-of-20 passes for 190 yards and running back Julian Hayes added 87 yards on 21 carries to lead Monmouth to a 23-6 victory over Wagner at Hameline Field.
With the loss, the Seahawks fall to 2-8 on the season while the Hawks even their season mark at 5-5. The Seahawks will close out the 2013 campaign at Saint Francis U on Saturday, November 16 in a Noon start that will be carried on ESPN 3.
Fifth-year senior running back
Dominique Williams (Bridgeton, NJ/Bridgeton/Milford Academy) came into the game 40 yards shy of the 1,000-yard rushing mark and he hit the milestone on a late second-quarter run, en route to a 20-carrry, 72-yard afternoon which gives him 1,032 for the season. Â The first three-time captain in Seahawk history, Williams has now passed the 1,000-yard mark in three straight seasons, having rushed for 1,338 yards in 2011 and 1,228 yards in 2012.
Junior
Brian Gehring (Tigard, OR/ Tigard/Laney CC) made his second consecutive start at quarterback for the Seahawks and went 10-of-20 through the air for 97 yards. Senior
Kramer Berg (Plymouth, MN/ Wayzata/Rochester CC) came on late in the fourth quarter to complete 5-of-13 passes for 86 yards.
The Seahawks' leading receiver on the afternoon was fifth-year senior
Tyree Watkins (Camden. NJ/Camden/Duke) who grabbed five passes for 69 yards. For the season, Watkins is the team leader in both receptions, with 41, and with 467 receiving yards.
Linebacker
Trevor Loveland (Cherry Hill, NJ/ Cherry Hill West) was Wagner's leading tackler with eight, fellow linebacker
Max Wassel (Totowa, NJ/ Passaic Valley) added seven stops while safety
Blake Bascom (Monroe Township, NJ/Monroe) and cornerback
Deangelo James (Miami, FL/ American Senior) added six tackles apiece.
Monmouth used some trickery on the game's opening kickoff set up its first touchdown of the game as Darren Ambush took a lateral from Lavon Chaney and dashed 56 yards to give the Hawks a first down on the Wagner 30-yard line. On the second play from scrimmage, Hayes raced 29-yards for a touchdown and score on Monmouth's second play from scrimmage.
Hayes had a one-yard touchdown run on the Monmouth's possession that was set up by a 65-yard pass from Hill to Michael McLafferty up the right sideline to put the Hawks up 13-0. McLafferty finished with four receptions for 119 yards. Lopez' first field goal of the day came with 30 seconds left in the half to make it 13-3 at intermission. Â Â Â Â

Lopez on Verge of No. 1 spot on Wagner, NEC All-Time Made Field Goal List
Fifth-year senior kicker
David Lopez booted field goals of 37 yards in the second quarter and 37 yards in the third quarter to account for all of Wagner's scoring. Lopez now has 43 field goals heading into the final game his career next week, leaving him one shy catching the Wagner and NEC all-time leader, Piotr Czech, who nailed 44 field goals between 2004 and 2007.
