LIVE STATS / COMPLETE NOTES

Fairfield, CT -
After a tough loss at Albany the Wagner Seahawks will look to right the ship on Saturday, November 20 at Sacred Heart as coach Walt Hameline will be gunning for his 23rd winning season in 30 years and victory #201. Opening kickoff is slated for 1:00 pm.

THE SERIES WITH SACRED HEART
The teams have split 12 total meetings with the home team coming out victorious in each of the last eight match-ups dating back to the 2002 season. Wagner won the first two meetings by scores of 40-8 in 1998 and 33-0 in 1999 but since then seven of the 10 meetings have been one-possession games. Sacred Heart has won five-straight games at home in the series after losing the first game between the schools in Fairfield in 1998.

LAST YEAR

Sophomore Nick Doscher ran for 123 yards and two touchdowns while also passing for 157 yards and one touchdown while lifting Wagner to a 49-28 Homecoming Day victory over Sacred Heart. The game was a see-saw battle that featured five lead changes, a combined 902 yards of offense and saw the Seahawks go the entire game without attempting a single punt .

The Seahawks took an early 14-6 lead but had to overcome a 25-21 halftime deficit and did so largely due to the efforts of senior Jeremy Martinez, who ran for a career-high 127 yards on 24 carries and two touchdowns.

The turning point of the game came when Sacred Heart QB Dale Fink rolled to his right and looked for tight end Chris Rapp but senior Chaz Legette read the play perfectly and came up with the interception, returning it 21 yards for a TD that to give Wagner the lead for good at 35-28. For Legette, it was his second interception on the afternoon as he also added five tackles and a pass break-up.

Doscher's 157 yards passing came while completing 11-of-17 passes. His 123 yards rushing came on 19 attempts giving him 280 yards of total offense. His favorite target was senior Tyrone Collins, who had four receptions 72 yards while junior WR David Crawford caught two passes for 52 yards, including a 44-yard grab.

Wagner piled up a season-high 302 yards on the ground. It marked the first time the Seahawks had rushed for 300 or more yards in a game since totalling 373 at Monmouth on Oct. 13, 2007.

SCOUTING SACRED HEART
Sacred Heart owns the league's top-rated passing attack, averaging 256.1 yards per game and is led by Dale Fink. The fifth-year senior has thrown for 13 touchdowns and a league-best 2,512 yards on the season. Against Albany, he threw three touchdowns to set the all-time NEC record with 77 touchdown tosses. With 136 yards in the against a stout Wagner defense, he will set the NEC-record for most passing yards.

ARCHER CARRIES THE LOAD
Central Michigan transfer Marcel Archer leads the Pioneers on the ground with 662 rushing yards while finding the back of the end zone 15 times, including 11 on the ground.

ROSSI & UYENO LEAD THE WAY IN THE AIR
Junior Rich Rossi ranks second in the NEC with 47 catches for 623 yards and four touchdowns while senior Mark Uyeno has 44 receptions and 397 yards. The duo is just one reception off of Duquesne receviers Dave Williams and Connor Dixon for the most catches by a NEC tandem.

DOSCHER MOVING UP THE RECORD BOOKS
In his second year as a starter Doscher is making his presence felt in the record books. He currently has a NEC-leading 2,512 yards of total offense and with one more yard would move into a tie for second-place on the all-time Wagner single-season list. His total of 2,099 yards from a year ago ranks as the ninth-best single-season mark while his career total of 4,611 is fourth all-time. Doscher also ranks ninth on the single-season passing yardage list (1,867) and 10th in completions (134). He has thrown for 200 yards five times and at least one touchdown in every game en route to 14 touchdown passes.

CALL HIM MR. 200!

Wagner head coach Walt Hameline became just the eighth active FCS head coach to win 200 games. He is also just the 66th coach in NCAA history to reach the 200-win club and the 35th to do so at one school. Hameline is 200-115-2 (.634), including 105-47-1 at home while guaranteeing his 26th winning season (out of 30) at home. Including his tenure as an assistant coach, Hameline has been a part of 215 Seahawk wins (out of 375 in school history) (.573). The Brockport State alum got to share the celebration with his wife Debbie and daughters Kristen & Kelly on the field following the game. 200-win t-shirts were distributed before a nine-plus minute video of tributes from but not limited to Wagner President Richard Guarasci, NEC commissioner Noreen Morris, former New York Giant quarterback Phil Simms, former New York Jet quarterback Boomer Esiasan, current Giants coach Tom Coughlin, current Mississippi State coach and former Wagner assistant Dan Mullen and current Toronto Raptors assistant coach P.J. Carlesimo.

SENIOR DAY CELEBRATION
All 27 seniors celebrated their time at Wagner College with a thrilling 31-20 victory over Monmouth on Senior Day. The 27-man class have all either graduated or will graduate on time.

HAMELINE NOTES
Walt Hameline, who is in his 30th season with a record of 200-115-2 (.634), can guarantee his 23rd winning season (out of 30) with a win at Sacred Heart in the season-finale. Hameline also boasts four career .500 campaigns and just three sub-.500 records while leading the school to its only National Championship in 1987 when Wagner went 13-1 while defeating Dayton in the title tilt.

.500 SEASON
A win today would give Wagner its second-straight winning season and its ninth in nine seasons. It would also guarantee the Seahawks a .500 record during league play for the ninth time in 15 Northeast Conference seasons dating back to the 1996 season.

PLACIDE NAMED TO FCS SENIOR SCOUT BOWL TEAM
Senior defensive back and special teams maven senior Frantz Placide has been selected to the inaugural FCS Senior Scout Bowl.

The Senior Scout Bowl selection committee has invited 90 top FCS division senior football players from around the nation to fill two teams, two players deep at each position, in a North vs. South format.

The game will take place at Torne Valley Sports Stadium in Ramapo, NY on Saturday, December 11 with kickoff set for 2:00 pm. This is the only game exclusively dedicated to showcasing the top FCS Division football players in the country. The event features a state-of-the-art indoor bubble located next to the game field which will provide a controlled practice environment for players to showcase their skills to coaches and scouts in the days prior to kickoff.

DOSCHER TD STREAK
With one passing touchdown at Sacred Heart, Doscher will have thrown for a score in all 11 games. He currently has 14 passing touchdowns.

DOSCHER NOTE
Doscher had one passing plays of 40 yards to David Crawford at Albany and has nine on the season, after notching just four in his first season at the helm of the Green & White. In 2010, he is 134-of-261 for 1867 yards and 14 passing touchdowns. All told he leads the league in total offense, averaging 251.2 yards per game.

DOSCHER VS. FINK
Today's game will most likely decide who ends the season as the NEC's leader in total offense. Doscher ranks first with 251.2 yards per game while Sacred Heart's Dale Fink is second at 241.0 yards per game.

COLLINS & CRAWFORD FORMING SOLID DUO
Senior Tyrone Collins hauled in five passes for 66 one touchdown in the first half at Albany before junior David Crawford did his damage in the second half, catching four passes for 113 yards en route to five receptions for a career-best 117 yards. On the year, Crawford leads the team with 31 catches for 550 yards and one touchdown as his 17.7 yards per catch ranks first in the NEC. Collins is second with 29 catches for 445 yards while hauling in four touchdowns. Fellow wideout senior Justin Matthews is third with 28 catches for 436 yards and five touchdowns.

DEFENSIVE BACKFIELD OUTSTANDING
There is no question that this season has been all about the Wagner defense. If one unit personifies the whole team it has to be the hard-hitting secondary that has produced seven interceptions as four players are among the top-eight tacklers on the squad. Leading the way is senior Stefen Gage, who paces the squad with 72 tackles and a NEC-best five interceptions, which are the most since Al Phillips plucked a NEC-best seven in 2007. In the win over Monmouth, Gage recorded a game-best 14 stops. Also having an outstanding year are fellow seniors #T.J. Czeski# (63 tackles), Legette (39 tackles; 4 break-ups; 1 forced fumble) and Placide (38 tackles; 4 break-ups; 3 fumble recoveries).

HOMECOMING OF SORTS
While Czeski was honored on Senior Day against Monmouth last weekend's game against Albany was more of a Senior Day. Czeski was honored as the New York State Class A Player of the Year and is the all-time leader in passing yards and completions at Amsterdam High near the University of Albany. He did not disappoint the home crowd, notching nine tackles and his first career blocked kick on a 23-yard field goal attempt.

LAST WEEK
Wagner surrendered 10 second-half points en route to a 24-14 loss at Albany.

OFFENSE AWAKENS
After being silenced by the CCSU defense and picking up a season-low 193 yards of total offense on 59 plays (3.3 ypp), Wagner broke free for 420 yards on 65 plays (6.5 ypp) in the win over Monmouth. The Seahawks also rushed for 214 yards on 39 carries (5.5 ypc) after notching just 81 yards on 40 carries (2.1 ypc). The Green & White continued the trend at Albany, collecting 388 yards of total offense on 68 plays (5.7 ypp). After allowing six sacks against the Blue Devils, the offensive line hasn't yielded on over the last two games.

FOXWORTH CARRIES THE LOAD
After senior Eric Foxworth rushed 30 times for 140 yards and two scores, all of which were career-highs, in a victory over Saint Francis (PA), the Trenton native collected 83 yards on another 23 carries against the Dukes en route to winning the prestigious Robb trophy. The 223 combined rushing yards on 53 carries are the most by any Seahawk running back in back-to-back games all year. Against the Red Flash, Foxworth began the game off with a then career-high 32-yard scamper and never looked back while eclipsing his previous season total of 133 yards, which was accrued on 38 carries. After picking up another 85 yards on the ground against Monmouth and 48 with a score at Albany, he has 497 yards on the season and 664 for his career.

DEFENSE REBOUNDS
After recording a NEC-leading 15 sacks through the first five games, Wagner had just two in the next three games, including zero at SFPA and CCSU, before breaking through and notching four in the win against Monmouth. The Seahawks are currently second in the NEC with 22 sacks.

DEFENSIVE REVIVAL
A year after having the worst defense in the NEC, Wagner has arguably one of the top units in the nine-team NEC. Coach Malik Hall's unit is yielding 302.9 yards per game (17th nationally), compared to 392.2 ypg a year ago. The D has locked it down in the fourth quarter of the four recent wins. Additionally, in each of those games the defense has six takeaways in the final stanza while allowing a combined total of 155 yards and just six points in the wins over Monmouth, SFPA, Georgetown and Bryant.

UP NEXT
Wagner will host Georgetown in the 2011 home opener on September 3, 2011.
