Emmitsburg, MD- The Wagner College women's soccer team fell in the final minutes of its Northeast Conference (NEC) match this afternoon, succumbing to Mount St. Mary's by a narrow 1-0 margin. The loss drops the Seahawks to 1-9-1 (0-3 NEC) on the season.

The lone goal of the contest came in the 79th minute after the Mount was able to convert on an Amy Song long throw-in into the box. Sadie Winship flicked a header off the throw-in to Emily Menotti. Menotti then made a fantastic play with her back to the goal, kicking the ball over her head past Wagner goalie Sam Schueschner (Brookfield, CT / Brookfield) from eight yards out. 

The goal was the only difference in an otherwise evenly played defensive contest. The two teams stood even in the first half of the game with five shots on goal each. Freshman Julie Vigliotti (Staten Island, NY/ Notre Dame Academy) and junior Briana Vassallo (Saddle Brook, NJ/ Paramus Catholic) led the Green & White in shots on goal, registering two each. 

Overall, the Mount bested the Seahawks in shots by a narrow 14-11 margin, while Wagner led in corner kicks 3-2. Schueschner finished with four saves while Mt. St. Mary's Alicia Miller had five. 

The Seahawks return to NEC action on Friday, October 9th when they host Saint Francis (PA) at 3:00 PM.
