After bouncing back from its four-point loss to Bryant (Oct. 3) by winning back-to-back league games over Monmouth and Sacred Heart, Wagner (3-1) finds itself within striking distance of first place in the Northeast Conference standings heading into its high noon showdown at Duquesne on Saturday.

The Seahawks defeated Sacred Heart (Oct. 24), 49-28, to stay within one and one-half games of league-leading UAlbany (5-0). Central Connecticut State (4-0) also stands between Wagner and first place, but the Seahawks face both CCSU (Nov. 7) and Albany (Nov. 21) at home down the stretch. For their efforts in Wagner's 49-28 Homecoming Day win over Sacred Heart, freshman QB Nick Doscher (Staten Island, NY/ Moore Catholic) was named Northeast Conference (NEC) Rookie of the Week for the third time this season, junior DB Frantz Placide (Miami, FL/Archbishop Curley Notre Dame) was tabbed Special Teams Player of the Week, also for the third time, while junior DB Chaz Legette (Syracuse, NY/ Nottingham) picked up Co-Defensive Player of the Week honors.

Wagner in Elite Offensive Company
The Seahawks are ranked eighth in the nation and tops in the NEC in scoring offense with an average of 35.0 points per game. In addition, Wagner is one of just five teams in the nation to have scored 40 or more points in four games this season. The other four schools who have accomplished this feat this
season are Elon, Jackson St., Montana and Stephen F. Austin.

Legette Named The Sports Network National Co-Defensive
Player of the Week, ECAC Defensive Player of the Week

Wagner junior DB Chaz Legette (Syracuse, NY/ Nottingham), was named the National Co-Defensive Player of the Week by The Sports Network and ECAC Defensive Player of the Week for his efforts in
Wagner's 49-28 Homecoming Day victory over Sacred Heart last Saturday. The 6-1, 180-pound Legette intercepted two passes, returning one 21 yards for the game-winning touchdown and broke a 28-28 tie in the final seconds of the third quarter when he picked off two-time All-NEC quarterback Dale Fink and raced into the end zone. Legette added five tackles (four solo) and a pass break-up to his two takeaways. He prevented the Pioneers from scoring a touchdown during a second-quarter trip into the red zone. Legette's pass break-up on 3rd-and-5 forced Sacred Heart to bring on the field goal unit. Legette shares this honor with Korey Lindsey of Southern Illinois, who had 12 tackles and two interceptions in a 27-8 win over Youngstown State. Legette, who also earned by the Northeast
Conference as its Co-Defensive Player of the Week, was named the winner of the Nick Lia Memorial trophy, emblematic of the Defensive MVP in Wagner's annual Homecoming Game.
