Wagner Soccer Ties Siena, 1-1

Loudonville, NY- The Wagner College women's soccer team played the undefeated Saints of Siena College to a 1-1 tie Sunday afternoon at a cool and breezy Siena Field. 

Freshman Alexis Makwinski (Temulca, CA/ Great Oak) notched her first collegiate goal as the Seahawks move their record to 2-4-3 on the season.
 
Siena (7-0-2) took an early lead in the fourth minute of the game when Maria DeMatteo scored a goal off an assist from Cara Riley, giving Siena a 1-0 advantage.
 
With only seconds to go until the end of the first half, Makwinski's header off Whitney Prindible's (Hockessin, DE/ St. Marks) free kick put the Seahawks on the board, bringing the game to a 1-1 tie.
 
Through another 45-minute half and two overtimes, neither sidewas able to tally another goal as the game ended in a 1-1 draw.
 
Between the pipes, sophomore goalkeeper Sam Schueschner (Brookfield CT/ Brookfield) went the entire 110 minutes while recording two saves.
 
Statistically, Siena out-shot Wagner, 16-9. As for corner kicks, the Saints bested the Seahawks 4-3.
 
The Seahawks travel to Brooklyn, NY Friday October, 3 for their conference opener against the Blackbirds of Long Island University. Start time is set for 6 pm.
