GAME NOTES
Wagner (2-1) and Division II Bryant (2-2 ) will meet on the gridiron for the very first time this afternoon. In Bryant, the Seahawks will be facing a future NEC rival as the Bulldogs will become a full-fledged member of the conference in 2012.
Under the direction of fifth-year head coach Marty Fine, Bryant has been a highly-successful member of the Northeast-10 Conference since the inception of its football program in 1999. The Bulldogs are in the process of transitioning from Division II to the FCS. This season, Bryant is playing nine of its 11 games vs. FCS (formerly I-AA) foes, including six NEC members. On Aug. 30, Bryant was extremely competitive at Central Connecticut State, dropping a 42-35 shoot-out to the Blue Devils. Last week, the Bulldogs were bested by Monmouth, 30-17, at home. In between these games were wins over the two D-II schools in its schedule, Southern Connecticut (39-36) and Merrimack (20-7). Bryant, which 0-5 all-time vs. FCS teams, is the second D-II opponent that Wagner will face this season. Back on Sept. 5, the Seahawks dropped a 14-13 decision at D-II Stonehill.
