Seahawks Conclude 2008 Season with 6-1 Loss to Robert Morris

Brooklyn, NY - Robert Morris freshman Lindsey Moates led the Colonials to a 6-1 win over Wagner, eliminating the Seahawks from the 2008 Northeast Conference Softball Tournament. The Ocala, Florida native allowed just one run in seven innings of work, scattering five hits while striking out nine. Her counterpart, Wagner's Kate Eshelman (Reno, NV/McQueen), allowed six runs, two unearned on nine hits.

After four scoreless innings Robert Morris finally broke through in the fifth with five runs in the bottom half of the stanza. Freshman shortstop Jessica Calderone got things started with a one out single to right. A fielding error by Wagner then allowed Colonials' right fielder Lauren Nisivoccia to reach, while Calderone advanced to second. A walk to junior center fielder Brooke Panepinto then loaded the bases setting the table for a grand slam from senior Brenna Reed Robert Morris would tack on another run later in the inning when freshman Annie Dubovec who singled to center, scored on an error by Wagner right fielder Ami Iwicki (Flemington, NJ/Hunterdon Central)

Wagner's lone run came in the top of the sixth when senior shortstop Katie Stevens (Reno, NV/Wooster) singled to right scoring freshman center fielder Emily Pierce (Phoenix, AZ/Desert Vista).

Stevens wrapped up her career with an impressive showing at this year's tournament, going 4-for-6 with an RBI and run scored, while NEC Player of the Year Andrea Lazzari (Reno, NV/Wooster) finished the tournament 3-for-6 with an RBI.
