St. Francis (NY) Holds Off Wagner 5-2 In Men's Tennis Action

Staten Island, NY - St. Francis (NY) avenged a prior loss to Wagner with a 5-2 victory at the Wagner Tennis Courts. With the win the Terriers move to 1-9 and 1-1 in the Northeast Conference (NEC) while the Seahawks fall to 1-10 and 1-2 in the NEC.

At No. 1 singles, Jindrich Chaloupka, arguably the best singles player in the NEC, got all he could handle from senior Adam Amster (Concord, MA / Concord-Carlisle) before pulling out the 6-4, 6-0 win. Sophomore John LeBlanc (Staten Island, NY / Tottenville) rolled over Vihren Todorov 6-0, 6-0 at No. 2 singles. Classmate Byron Clohessy also notched his second win of the year with a 6-2, 6-4 victory against Bratislav Radosavljevic at fourth singles.

In third singles, Elan Evans shut defeated sophomore Ben Serbiak (Washington Crossing, PA / Holy Ghost Prep) 6-0, 6-4. At No. 5 singles, senior Will Shuler (Springfield, MA / Central Springfield) was felled 6-2, 6-1 by Alvin Ray. Rounding out singles' play, junior Sheldon Wilson lost at No. 6 by a 7-5, 6-4 count to Tyrone Fordham.

SFNY captured the doubles' point after winning all three matches.
