Staten Island, NY - The Wagner women's tennis team won for the second time in its last three matches with a dominating 7-0 victory over SFNY at the Wagner Tennis Courts.
The Green & White won all of their singles matches by perfect 6-0, 6-0 scores and collected the doubles point with wins at No. 1 and No. 2 doubles.
Junior Brittany Frazza (West Caldwell, NJ / Morris Catholic) won her team-best fifth match of the year 6-0, 6-0 over Tara Garone. Classmate Emily Boyd (Stratham, NH / Exeter Area) shut out Jenna Charles 6-0, 6-0 at No. 2 singles. At third singles, sophomore Valerie LeCureux (Jamison, PA / Central Bucks East) dominated Cathy Drakakis 6-0, 6-0. Freshman Sarah Sproviero shut down Angel Lawrence 6-0, 6-0 in fourth singles. At No. 5 singles, freshman Joanna Ciavarella won for the second-time in as many matches with a 6-0, 6-0 victory over Kerri-Ann Sarjeant. Fellow freshman Vanessa Fagundes won by default at No. 6 singles.
LeCureux and Sproviero won 8-4 at No. 1 doubles while Boyd and Fagundes collected an 8-4 win at No. 2 doubles to secure the point for Wagner.
The Green & White hosts St. Francis (NY) round out their regular season with a match at Lafayette on Tuesday, April 15.
