#19 Bucknell Glides Past Seahawks 17-7

College Park, MD - The Wagner water polo team was topped by #19-ranked Bucknell University 17-7 in the second game of the Terrapin Invitational.

The Seahawks fell behind the potent Bison offense early, ending the first quarter in a 5-2 deficit. Bucknell then shut out the Green & White in the second quarter to take an 8-2 lead into halftime. Offensively, the third quarter was the Seahawk's most productive with four goals. But the Bison countered Wagner's output with six goals of their own and took a 14-6 lead at the end of the third stanza of play. In the final quarter, the Seahawks were able to amount one goal while the Bison netted three, ending the match with a score of 17-7.

Senior southpaw Amber McMichael (Reading, PA/Governor Mifflin) and fellow co-captain Billy Hoelck (San Diego, CA/University of San Diego HS) led the Seahawk scoring with two goals a piece. Other netted goals came from the hands of junior Alexandra Tomlinson (Telford, PA/Souderton) and seniors Yvette Viramontes (Montebello, CA/Montebello) and Camille Karimzad (Walnut Creek, CA/Campolindo), each with one goal.

Freshman goalie Kristen Spector (Camp Hill, PA/Cumberland Valley) had five saves and two steals in the loss.

The Seahawks close out the Terrapin Invitational Sunday, February 24th when they take on host the University of Maryland at 11:45 AM.
