Seahawks Finish Third In NEC Swimming Championships

New Haven, CT - The Wagner swimming team finished in third place at the Northeast Conference Championships despite the 400 freestyle relay team breaking a Wagner All-Time record.

The freestyle team, consisting of sophomore Jessica Hart (Summerfield, NC/Northwest) senior Lindsey Rodgers (Anaheim Hills, CA/Fullerton JC) freshman Sarah Plucinsky (Allentown, PA/Allentown Central Catholic) and senior Halley Allen (Bryan, TX/Bryan), swam a second place time of 3:34.66 that broke the previous record of 3:35.22 set in 2005.

The Seahawks kept things lively in the third day of competition with a first-second combination in the 200 breaststroke where sophomore Melanie Rodriguez-Lapman (Chesire, CT/Chesire) and freshman Bethny Brown (Enfield, CT/Ennco Fermi) finished at the top of the competition with times of 2:29.17 and 2:30.91 respectively.

Junior Alexandra Tomlinson (Telford, PA/Souderton) kept the Seahawks in the heat of things with a 17:14.51 time in the 1650 freestyle, good for second place while senior Jess Radka (Reading, PA/Holy Name) took second in the 200 butterfly with a time of 2:05.33.

Other top Seahawk performers include freshman Caitlin Moore-Penaskovic's (Dover, NH/Dover) 2:14.39 performance in the 200 backstroke, good for fourth place as Rodgers took third place in the 100 freestyle with a time of 54.51.
