Seahawks Fall to Indiana at Princeton Invitational

Princeton, NJ - The Wagner water polo team dropped their first game of the 2008 season to Indiana 16-10 in the first of two games at the Princeton Invitational.

The Seahawks battled the entire game and were able to keep up with the Hoosiers in the first quarter of play, trailing only 6-5. In the second half, Indiana took over scoring four uncontested goals. In third quarter, the Seahawks came charging scoring four goals to the Hoosiers three. But in the end, Indiana took the Seahawks netting three goals to Wagner's one in the fourth.

Senior Billy Hoelck (San Diego, CA/University of San Diego HS) led the Seahawks scoring with four goals while tallying up one assist and one steal. Junior Nicole Maichrowicz (Temple City, CA/Temple City) netted three goals while freshman Laura vanderBent (Shillington, PA/Mifflin) scored her first two collegiate goals on two shots. Rounding out the scoring for the Seahawks is Yvette Viramontes with one goal in the contest.

Freshman goalie Kristen Spector (Camp Hill, PA/Cumberland Valley) saved three goals in her first collegiate action.

The Seahawks take aim at Harvard University for their second of game at the Princeton Invitational Saturday, February 16th at 9:40 PM.
