Dan Mullen Named at Mississippi St.
Staten Island, NY – Dan Mullen, who served as wide receivers coach at Wagner College from 1994-95 under
Walt Hameline, has been named head football coach at Mississippi State, a member of the powerful Southeastern Conference (SEC).
Mullen helped guide Wagner to records of 6-5 and 8-2 during his tenure on Grymes Hill. Since 2005, Mullen has served as offensive coordinator/quarterbacks coach at the University of Florida under head coach Urban Meyer, helping to lead the Gators to the 2006 National Championship. He has also helped mold quarterback Tim Tebow into a Heisman Trophy winner and a first-team All-American.
“I remember Dan as a real innovative offensive coach, a real knowledgeable guy with a great personality who related very well to his players,” said Hameline. “Obviously he has made great moves in his career and accomplished a lot of things. I think he is very deserving of this opportunity to be a head coach at the highest level.”
Mullen has assisted Meyer at two other programs, serving as quarterbacks coach at Utah (2003-04) and Bowling Green (2001-02). He was a graduate assistant at Notre Dame (1999-2000) and Syracuse (1998) and also was wide receivers coach at Columbia (1996-97).
A native of Manchester, NH, Mullen graduated in 1994 with a Bachelor's Degree in Exercise and Sport Science from Ursinus College and earned a Master's Degree in Education from Wagner College in 1996.
