GAME NOTES

Wagner (3-6, 1-4) will host first-year NEC member Duquesne (2-6, 1-4) in a Senior Day showdown on Saturday at 1:00 pm. The first-ever meeting took place on November 14, 1992 when the Seahawks posted a 31-6 victory here on Staten Island. The following season, the teams locked horns in Pittsburgh and again it was Wagner coming out on top, this time by a much closer 27-24 margin. The teams squared off again in Pittsburgh on Nov. 18, 1995 when they met in the ECAC-IFC Division I-AA Bowl with Duquesne coming out on top, 44-20.

Senior Day
Sixteen Seahawk seniors will be honored in a pre-game ceremony in recognition of their final games here on Grymes Hill. The sixteen departing seniors are: QB Matt Abbey, DL Adrian Adderley, TE Carlos Barthelemy, DE Robert Brown, DB Dario Charlton, LB Mke Critchley, RB Rodney Davis, TE Andrew Guilbault, LB Jason Haskins, OL Charlie McMillian, PK Eric Ortiz, LB John Panik, LB Jeremy Spinks, WR Kyle Trueblood, 47 Peter Zagorski and H Adam Ziegler.

Seahawks, Dukes to Meet for First Time as NEC Rivals
Wagner and Duquesne enter Saturday's game tied for sixth place in the NEC with the teams sporting identical 1-4 records. The Seahawks enter the contest with a three-game losing streak while the Dukes have lost five in a row. The key matchup today might be Duquesne's potent passing game vs. Wagner's tight pass defense. The Dukes, led by sophomore QB Connor Dixon, are No. 1 in the NEC in passing yards (240.1/game). The Seahawks, meanwhile, are No. 1 in pass defense in the conference, allowing just 128.8 yards per game through the air. In fact, Wagner is ranked No. 1 in the NEC in total defense at 287.6 yards per allowed per game. Duquesne is No. 8 in the league in total defense, allowing 399.6 yards per game.

Nick Lia Statue to be Unveiled at Wagner College Stadium at Noon on Saturday
The memory of Nick Lia, a former Seahawk standout who was killed during the Vietnam War, will be honored at today's game with the erecting of a statue that will stand forever more in his honor at Wagner College Stadium. An outstanding defensive player, Lia helped lead the 1964 football team to an undefeated season and captained the 1965 team. The Staten Island native was a graduate of Curtis High School and during his time at Wagner, was a proud member of Delta Nu Fraternity. “Nick Lia represented the best of both Wagner College and our nation,” said Wagner College President Richard Guarasci. “He was a talented student and athlete, and a generous and true friend to all. We are proud that he was a member of the Wagner family.” Lia was named the winner of the 1965 James Robb Memorial Trophy which, until 1969, was given annually to the outstanding Wagner player in the Homecoming Game. Beginning in 1969, the Lia Trophy has been awarded to the outstanding defensive player in the Homecoming Game. The Robb Trophy, named in honor of a former Seahawk great killed in World War II, since 1969 has been awarded to the game's outstanding offensive player. In 2000, Lieutenant Nick Lia was honored for his athletic achievements by being inducted into the Wagner College Athletics Hall of Fame. The winner of the 2008 Lia Trophy for his efforts in the 45-28 win over Iona on Sept. 13 was senior DB Dario Charlton.
