Staten Island, NY - The Wagner men's tennis team lost to Fordham by a 7-0 score at the Wagner College Tennis Courts. Fordham improves to 1-3 while the Green & White fall to 1-2.
At No.1 singles, senior Adam Amster (Concord, MA / Concord-Carlisle) lost a hard-fought 3-6, 6-3, 6-4 decision to Austin Shoup. Sophomore John LeBlanc (Staten Island, NY / Tottenville) was felled by injury and forced to retire in the first set. At third singles, sophomore Ben Serbiak (Washington Crossing, PA / Holy Ghost Prep) was defeated by Sotiris Georgiou 6-0, 6-1. Fordham's Kevin Maloney handed sophomore Byron Clohessy a 6-2, 6-0 setback. Senior Will Shuler (Springfield, MA / Central Springfield) fared no better at No. 5, losing 6-0, 6-0. In sixth singles, Sheldon Wilson was defeated 6-0, 6-2.
Fordham won all three doubles matches to take the doubles' point.
Wagner is next in action on Thursday, Oct. 11 when the Green & White host Rider at 3:00 pm.
