Staten Island, NY - Wagner was felled by the visiting Monmouth Hawks 7-0 at the Wagner Tennis Courts. With the loss the Green & White drop to 1-1 and 1-1 in the Northeast Conference while the Hawks move to 1-3 and 1-0 in conference play.

At No.1 singles, junior Brittany Frazza (West Caldwell, NJ / Morris Catholic) lost to Kaitlin Gallagher 6-4, 6-3 in a hard-fought match. Senior Aarti Mahtani (Montego Bay, Jamaica / Saint Andrew's) fared no better at second singles, losing 6-1, 6-0 to Sarah Ragan. At No. 3 singles, Katie Tierney defeated junior Emily Boyd (Stratham, NH / Exeter Area) 6-1, 6-0. In fourth singles, senior Marie Crane (Cheshire, CT / Cheshire) was handed a 6-3, 6-0 defeat by Kristen Hoffman. At No. 5, sophomore Valerie LeCureux (Jamison, PA / Central Bucks East) lost to Diane Washer 6-4, 6-0. Freshman Stephanie Esgro played the match of the day for the Green & White, losing a tough three setter to Christina Cella 6-3, 1-6, 10-7.

Monmouth also won the doubles' point, winning all three matches.

Wagner breaks for a few weeks before the Green & White head to Siena on Sunday, Oct. 14 at 3 pm.
