Philadelphia, PA - The Wagner College Women's Soccer team couldn't overcome an early goal from the host Dragons (4-2-1) as they fall at Drexel University this afternoon, 1-0. The Seahawks move to a record of (1-5-1, 0-0-0 NEC) on the year.
It was the 19th minute that proved disastrous to Head Coach Mike Minielli's Wagner team when Drexel players Daria Bialik and Carly Snyder hooked up for a goal at 19:10 to take a 1-0 lead.
Unfortunately for the Green & White, that single-goal advantage would hold up for the rest of the 90 minutes as the Dragons held on for victory and extended their unbeaten streak to four games.
Wagner freshman forward Briana Vassallo (Saddle Brook, NJ/Paramus Catholic) and sophomore forward Brooke Keany (Rumson, NJ/Rumson-Fair Haven) - who have both recorded a goal this year thus far - had two shots apiece to put the Seahawks on the board but were unable to convert.
In goal, freshman Samantha Schueschner (Brookfield, CT/Brookfield) commanded the post once again for the entire 90 minutes of play, notching three saves in the loss.
Wagner stays on the road this Thursday with a showdown in Fairfield, Ct. where they'll face off against the Stags of Fairfield University. Game time is set for 7 p.m.
