Wagner Men In Tenth Place After First Round Of NEC Championships

Sunset Beach, NC - The Wagner Men's Golf found themselves in a hole in tenth place after the first round play of the 2007 NEC Championship at the Sea Trail Golf Resort. With a combined score of 323, they currently trail the eighth place spot by twelve strokes and trail the first place Monmouth University by 28 strokes.

The low-Seahawk on the day was sophomore Christopher Fourman (Greenville, OH/Greenville), who fired off a seven-under-par 79 - highlighted by a 39 on the back nine - which places him bunched up in a six-way tie for 31st.

Two strokes behind Fourman was fellow sophomore Chris Meehan (Scotch Plains, NJ/Morristown Beard) who shot an 81, pitting him in a two-way tie for 42nd with fellow teammate Charles Lupardo (Sr., Staten Island, NY/Susan Wagner) who equaled the 81.

Senior Chris DeCarlo (Manchester, CT/Manchester) started off strong, putting up a 37 after the front nine, but faltered a bit on the back, finishing up with an 82 for the opening round.

Senior Peter Aloisio (Floral Park, NY/Archbishop Molloy) rounded out the group with a 46th place finish after shooting an 83.

Day Two of the 2007 NEC Men's Golf Championship will commence at 7:56 a.m. on Saturday. The conference championship is a three-day, 54-hole event. Team scores are calculated by adding the team's four lowest scores from each day. The top-10 finishers are selected as all-NEC performers.
