Philadelphia, PA - The Wagner College men's lacrosse team fell in a MAAC Conference game this afternoon at Finnesey Field to the host Saint Joseph's University Hawks (5-10, 5-3 MAAC) by a score of 11-3. The Seahawks now fall to a record of 0-14, 0-7 MAAC.
The Seahawks were undone by a slow start to the Hawks who rambled off the first five goals of the game, unanswered, as Saint Joseph's held Wagner scoreless until the 4:20 mark in the third period when junior midfielder Ryan Martin (Florham Park, NJ/Bayley Ellard) scored unassisted.
The next Wagner goal wouldn't come until the Hawks had scored another four times in between, that short run finally broken by junior midfielder Mike Hess's (Potomac, MD/The Heights School) score on a pass from sophomore attack Jeff Policicchio (Novi, MI/Novi) with 8:16 left in the game.
Sophomore Brian Poissant (Manlius, NY/Fayetteville-Manlius) added one more goal with exactly 4:00 left on the clock, but, it proved too little too late as the Hawks ran away with the win, 11-3.
Senior Ian Gallagher (Syracuse, NY/Westhill) spent another sixty minutes in between the pipes for the Seahawks, recording 12 saves. That puts him right near the 200 mark, collectively for the season, at 188.
The Seahawks now prepare for their last contest of the year when they'll travel south down to Emmitsburg, Maryland to meet up with MAAC rival Mount St. Mary's this Saturday at 1 p.m.
