Final Stats

Moon Township, PA - Host Robert Morris University downed the Wagner women's lacrosse team by a final of 15-4 in a Northeast Conference tilt this afternoon. Four different players scored for the Seahawks, but a 9-0 run by the Colonials spanning the first and second halves decided the outcome.

Wagner (3-12; 2-5 NEC) fell behind 3-0 and was held scoreless until freshman Krista Maylayter (Cheshire, CT / Cheshire) scored the Seahawks only goal of the first half at 13:30. Maylayter, scored off an assist from sophomore Cara Gonzalez (Syracuse, NJ / Westhill), who leads the team with 19 helpers this season.

Pam Deguffery and Kara Blakeley added two goals a piece for Robert Morris as the Colonials took a 7-1 lead into the locker room at half time. The Seahawks were out shot 27-6 in the opening half and committed 18 turnovers.

The 9-0 run by Robert Morris (6-9; 3-4 NEC) was finally ended by Gonzalez, who scored unassisted with 12:47 to play. Sophomore Lindsay Hashmall (Wantagh, NY / Wantagh) followed with a score off a Jessica Richmond (Jenkintown, PA / Jenkintown) assist as the Seahawks trailed 12-3 with 11 minutes remaining.

Three more Colonial goals ensued before senior Amanda Scalzo (Cheshire, CT / Cheshire) scored for the Seahawks to end the scoring.

Senior Jessica Ellis (Fairport, NY / Fairport) won four draw controls to lead Wagner while Hashmall and junior Jessica Bajkowski (Fairfax, VA / Robinson) recorded a team high three ground balls each.

Freshman Alex Johnston (Manlius, NY / Fayetteville-Manlius) posted 15 saves in 37 minutes, including 14 in the first half. Sophomore Amy Jones (Jarrettsville, MD / N. Harford) took over and had three saves in the final 23 minutes of play.

Deguffroy and Blakeley led Robert Morris with four goals each.

The Seahawks close out the season on Wednesday when they host Central Conn. St at 3:30 pm. It will be Senior Day for the program as they honor five departing seniors from this year's team.
