Loretto, PA - The men's tennis team dropped their fourth-straight match 5-1 at Saint Francis (PA) on Sunday. With the loss Wagner is now 2-10 and 1-4 in the NEC. The Red Flash improve to 4-10 and 2-2 in the NEC.
Freshman John LeBlanc (Staten Island, NY / Tottenville) was the lone winner on the day, defeating David Kirby 6-2, 6-2 at No. 2 singles.
Elsewhere, junior Adam Amster (Concord, MA / Concord-Carlisle) was shut out 6-0, 6-0 by Andrei Sandu at first singles. Jeff Seevers set down graduate student Robert Kiley (Greenlawn, NY / Hofstra) 6-0, 6-1 at No. 3 singles. Freshman Ben Serbiak (Washington Crossing, PA / Holy Ghost Prep) lost by the same score at No. 4 singles to Jordan Kowalski. At fifth singles, freshman Byron Clohessy dropped a hard-fought match by a score of 6-3, 6-2. Rounding out singles' play, classmate Sheldon Wilson was defeated by Tyler Jones 6-1, 6-0 at the six-spot.
There were no doubles' matches.
Wagner is off this week and returns to action on Tuesday, Feb. 10 with a match against rival St. Francis (NY).
