Wagner Rides Strong Singles' Play To 4-3 Win Over Delaware State

Dover, DE - Wagner (5-9) won a hard-fought match 4-3 at Delaware State on the strength of taking four of the five singles' matches.

Sophomore Brittany Frazza (West Caldwell, NJ / Morris Catholic) picked up her third-straight victory and eighth of the season with a straight-set 6-2, 6-1 win over Julieta Yung. At No. 3 singles, junior Marie Crane (Cheshire, CT / Cheshire) won in straight sets 6-3, 6-3 over Stephanie Peels for her fifth win of the year. Sophomore Emily Boyd (Stratham, NH / Exeter Area) also picked up her fifth win of the year with a hard-fought 6-2, 4-6, 6-2 victory at fourth singles over Anikka Ahmed. Freshman Valerie LeCureux (Jamison, PA / Central Bucks East) rolled to her sixth win of the season, 6-0, 6-4 over Shadara Edmond at No. 5 singles. At No. 2, junior Aarti Mahtani (Montego Bay, Jamaica / Saint Andrews's) lost to Kelly Carrigan 6-1, 6-0.

Delaware State took both doubles' matches to account for the 4-3 final-margin.

The Seahawks wrap up their regular season on Wednesday at Rider with a 2:30 match.
