Staten Island, NY - Wagner (4-9) lost to Lafayette earlier today at the Hillside Swim Club by a 6-1 count.
Sophomore Brittany Frazza (West Caldwell, NJ / Morris Catholic) picked up her second-straight win and was victorious for the fifth in six matches at first singles when Julia Strang retired in the first set due to injury. Frazza was up 3-0 in the first set at the time. At No. 2, junior Aarti Mahtani (Montego Bay, Jamaica / Saint Andrews's) lost to Danielle Bailey 6-0, 6-0. Classmate Marie Crane (Cheshire, CT / Cheshire) was felled 6-0, 6-1 by Ansley Scudder at third singles. At fourth singles, sophomore Emily Boyd (Stratham, NH / Exeter Area) was blanked 6-0, 6-0 by Sarah Sykes. Freshman Valerie LeCureux (Jamison, PA / Central Bucks East) lost 6-2, 6-0 to Nancy Parker to round out singles play as Lafayette won sixth singles by default.
Lafayette won the singles point with wins at first and second doubles.
The Seahawks play at Delaware State tomorrow at 1 pm.
