Moon Township, PA - Wagner (2-7; 0-3 NEC) lost to Robert Morris (2-17; 2-1 NEC) 6-1earlier today in the first of a two-match road trip to Western Pennsylvania.
Sophomore Brittany Frazza (West Caldwell, NJ / Morris Catholic) was the lone winner of the day winning her match at first singles against Kali Delorie 2-6, 6-4, 6-0.
"She had a solid comeback to take the second set," said assistant coach Eric Allen. "Then she put her away in the third set with a decisive victory."
Junior Aarti Mahtani (Montego Bay, Jamaica / Saint Andrews's) lost in straight sets 6-3, 6-1 to Libby Shaw at second singles. At No. 3, junior Marie Crane (Cheshire, CT / Cheshire) was shut out 6-0, 6-0 by Katie Kravits. Hilary Newman beat sophomore Emily Boyd (Stratham, NH / Exeter Area) 6-0, 6-1 at fourth singles. At No. 5 singles, freshman Valerie LeCureux (Jamison, PA / Central Bucks East) was set down 6-1, 6-1 by Katie Skopinski.
The Colonials won the point at sixth singles by default to round out the scoring.
Frazza and Crane fell at one doubles 8-3 against Delorie and Shaw. At second doubles, Mahtani and LeCureux were defeated by Kravits and Skopinski 8-2.
Wagner faces off with Saint Francis (PA) on Sunday at 3:30 pm.
