Seahawks Fall To Marist, 12-5

April 1, 2007

Final Stats

Staten Island, NY - The Wagner College men's lacrosse team lost a Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference match-up this afternoon to the visiting Marist College Red Foxes (2-6, 2-1 MAAC) by the score of 12-5. They fall to a record of (0-8, 0-2 MAAC) on the year.

The Red Foxes jumped out early on the Seahawks 5-1 in the opening period and unfortunately for Wagner, they wouldn't be able to get any closer the rest of the game.

The first score from a Seahawk stick came with 7:25 left in the first when senior captain Josh Hamilton (Millersville, MD/Serverna Park) scored unassisted.

He is now tied with junior attack Andrew Daly (Jamesville, NY/Jamesville-DeWitt) for the team lead on the year.

Daly had two scores on the day, coming with 2:06 left in the second period and 9:44 left in the third period, respectively.

The Seahawks would put on a second half offensive surge to attempt to cut into the Marist lead and ended up knotting up with the Red Foxes three goals apiece after the intermission, however, it proved too little too late.

Junior midfielders Mike Hess (Potomac, MD/The Heights School) and Ryan Martin (Florham Park, NJ/Bayley Ellard) also tallied a score apiece on the afternoon.

Sophomore attack Evan Shull (Jefferson Station, NY/Comsewogue) finished the game with two assists in a tie for the game high.

Senior goalkeeper Ian Gallagher (Syracuse, NY/Westhill) had 16 saves against 37 Marist shots spending all sixty minutes in the cage for the Seahawks.

The Seahawks now look forward to welcoming the Bellarmine University Knights from Louisville, Kentucky to Wagner College Stadium for a 1 o'clock matinee this Tuesday afternoon.
