Bronx, NY - The Wagner softball team dropped a doubleheader to Fordham by scores of 4-1 and 4-2 earlier today at Bahoshy Field. The sweep leaves the Seahawks at 8-8 on the season, while the Rams moved to 18-12 overall

In the opener, the Rams loaded the bases with one out in the bottom of the third before junior Morgan Miller (Las Vegas, NV / Silverado) escaped the threat forcing a flyout to left field and a lineout to short. In the fourth, Fordham finally broke the scoreless tie as Erin Fisher drew a leadoff walk and came around to score on a triple by Gina Carpardi for a 1-0 lead.

Wagner battled back in the next inning and tied the game at 1-1. Junior Ami Iwicki (Flemington, NJ / Hunterdon Central) reach base to lead off the inning when she was hit by a pitch. Pinch runner Cindy Bagnoli (Old Tappan, NJ / Northern Valley Regional) took over and moved up on a sacrifice and over to third on a single to right by sophomore Jaclyn Vanore (Palisades Park, NJ / Paramus Catholic). Bagnoli would then score the tying run as senior Christina Hopkins (Edison, NJ / Edison) reached on a throwing error by the third baseman.

A pair of unearned runs in the bottom of the fifth put Fordham back on top 3-1. An error and walk put a pair of runners on to start the inning before Fisher hit one off the centerfielder's glove to bring both runners home.

In the sixth, junior Victoria Batistelli (Huntington Beach, CA / Huntington Beach) was hit by a pitch for the ninth consecutive game and 17th time this season. Carpardi struck again in the last of the sixth with a leadoff solo home run into right for a 4-1 Ram lead.

Iwicki also added a single in the second inning for the Seahawks. Miller (3-3) was charged with the loss posting two strikeouts and allowing two earned runs.

In the nightcap Fordham struck first again taking a 1-0 lead in the first. Allison Twarowski led off the game with a triple into right center and then came into score on a fielder's choice just beating the throw in from second base.

Wagner put together a scoring opportunity in third putting runners on second and third with one out. After a leadoff double by Hopkins, Batistelli extended her streak to 10 consecutive games getting hit by a pitch raising her season total 18 and career mark to 37 which now place her sixth all time in the NCAA Record Book.

The deficit grew to 4-0 in the bottom of the fourth as the Rams received a RBI single from Allison Stroc and a two out, two-run single from Melissa Andrews.

The Seahawks made it 4-2 in the top of the sixth when Iwicki knocked in junior Margaret Gallia (Las Vegas, NV / Community College HS), who singled and sophomore Andrea Lazzari (Reno, NV / Wooster), who reached on a error. Iwicki brought in both players with a two out double.

Freshman Kate Eshelman (Reno, NV / McQueen) fell to 4-3 on the year with the loss. Eshelman surrendered six hits and four earned runs in five innings before giving way to freshman Danielle Wagoner (Temecula, CA / Temecula Valley) who threw a perfect sixth inning
