NJIT Shuts Out Wagner 7-0

Tenafly, NJ - Wagner lost to NJIT by a 7-0 count at the Tenafly Racquet Club on Saturday, March 24. With the loss the Seahawks fall to 1-6 on the season while the Highlanders improve to 10-6. Despite the setback the duo of junior Aarti Mahtani (Montego Bay, Jamaica / Saint Andrews's) and freshman Valerie LeCureux (Jamison, PA / Central Bucks East) won their match at second doubles by a 8-3 count over Didem Cakiroglu and Grace Bogdan.

At No. 1 singles, sophomore Brittany Frazza (West Caldwell, NJ / Morris Catholic) was blanked 6-0, 6-0 by Iulia Doci. Mahtani also lost 6-0, 6-0 to Isha Toor at second singles. At No. 3, classmate Marie Crane (Cheshire, CT / Cheshire) was set down 6-0, 6-0 by Marine Henry. Sophomore Emily Boyd (Stratham, NH / Exeter Area) fared no better at fourth singles losing 6-1, 6-0 to Fanny Aizier. LeCureux lost at fifth singles to Chiori Koike 6-0, 6-1. NJIT won the sixth spot by default.

The Highlanders won the doubles point as Doci and Fatima Kasem defeated Frazza and Crane 8-1 at first doubles while taking third doubles by default.
