Men's Lacrosse Defeated By Quinnipiac, 13-2

March 20, 2007

Box Score

Hamden, CT - The Wagner College men's lacrosse team lost a non-conference away bout to host Quinnipiac University (3-2-0, 0-0-0 GWLL) this afternoon by the score of 13-2. They fall to a record of (0-6-0, 0-0-0 MAAC) in the early season.

The Bobcats jumped out early on Wagner 5-0 in the opening quarter and never looked back.

Despite winning the battle of the face-offs 10-9, the Seahawks didn't score until 8:25 left in the second period when senior captain Ryan Pepe (Andover, NJ/Pope John XXIII) found the back of the net unassisted for his first goal of the season to cut the Quinnipiac lead to 5-1.

The Bobcats, however, would go on another 5-0 tear to put the game out of reach at 10-1 with 13:13 left in the third period. Junior midfielder Mike Hess (Potomac, MD/The Heights School) stopped the Wagner drought with their final goal of the game coming unassisted with 12:15 left to go in the third.

Only one goal would be scored between the two teams in the final period, and that was Quinnipiac's Bill Hayes notched an unassisted toss in the proverbial bucket with 4:37 left to go in the game.

Senior goalkeeper Ian Gallagher (Syracuse, NY/Westhill) would put up another impressive save number with 15 coming on 43 Bobcat shots. He spent all sixty minutes between the pipes.

The Seahawks now jump on the bus this weekend and travel to Buffalo, New York to take on Canisius in their MAAC opener at 1 p.m. on Saturday afternoon.
