Staten Island, NY -- The Wagner College indoor track and field squads were in action earlier today at East Stroudsburg University for an invitational meet. There were no team scores to be had but the Seahawks did put together some impressive performances.
The Wagner women got it started with Noemie Wilson (Windsor, CO/Windsor) who took third in the 55 meter hurdles at 8.65 seconds. Current NEC field athlete of the week Alaina Alfano (East Hanover, NJ/Hanover Park) picked up 12th in the 55 meter dash at 7.66 seconds with Katie Callihan (Fort Collins, CO/Rocky Mountain) coming in right behind in 13th at 7.66 seconds.
Sophomore Brecken Drager (Loomis, CA/Del Oro) had a nice day grabbing first in the mile at 5:14.78 while Samantha Snukis (St. Clair, PA/Nativity BVM) was good for third in the 800 meters at 2:23.95. In throwing events Ashley Simon (King of Prussia, PA/Upper Merion Area) picked up 10th in the shotput at 11.59 meters and eighth in the weight toss at 13.92 meters.
As for the men Mouhamed Halwani (Staten Island, NY/Xaverian) nailed down third place in the mile run at 4:28.61 while freshman James Johnston (Middle Island, NY/Longwood) picked up first in the 1,000 meters at 2:36.22. Piotr Czech (Keyport, NJ/Keyport) tallied third place in the triple jump at 13.36 meters and 10th in the long jump at 6.27 meters.
The Seahawks are next in action at the NEC Indoor Championships this Saturday, February 10.
