Bronx, NY - The Wagner cross country teams competed in the Metropolitan Championships Friday at Van Cortland Park. The men's team finished ninth while the women placed seventh after a two week absence from the race scene.
Senior Mouhamed Halwani (Staten Island, NY/Xaverian) led the men's team with a 35th place finish, running 27:59 in the sun blistering 8K course. Following Halwani was junior Brian Halling (Amerst, NH/Souhegan) running an impressive 28:28 and placing 48th. Rounding out the men's side is freshman phenom Derek Rammelkamp (Miller Place NY, Miller Place) with a time of 28:50 followed by twin brother Thomas Rammelkamp (Miller Place, NY/Miller Place) finishing with a time of 29:27, junior Allen Koehler (Okeana, OH/William Henry Harrison) at 30:25 and freshman Brian Doxey (West Islip, NY/West Islip) finishing at 31:06.
The women were headed by junior Brecken Drager (Loomis, CA/Del Oro) finishing in ninth place with a time of 19:31. She was followed by senior Meghan Robbins (Waymar, PA/Western Wayne) at 20:18 and a 29th finsh, junior Ashley Mallen (Staten Island, NY/St. John Villa) running 21:28, senior Samantha Snukis (St. Clair, PA/Nativity BVM) finishing 22:24 in her first collegiate race, sophomore Jenna Naglieri (Stony Point, NY/North Rockland) at 22:32 and junior Ryan Rogers (Islip, NY/Islip) with a 23:18 finish.
The Seahawks will hit the path once again at the Albany Invite next Saturday, October 13th.
