New Britain, CT - The Wagner College Women's Soccer team was beaten this afternoon by the Blue Devils of Central Connecticut State (8-6-1, 5-1-0 NEC) in a Northeast Conference game. The Seahawks move to a record of (3-11-2, 1-5-1 NEC) on the year.
It took a while before the host Blue Devils would take control of the game as it wasn't until the 54th minute - well into the second half - that Wagner would find themselves behind on the scoreboard.
It came when Central's Kari Mancini found teammate Brittany Murphy for her fourth goal of the year, a shot to the lower right of the goal from inside the 18. They would go on to score again just seven minutes later when Rachel Caneen scored her seventh goal of the year for first place Central Connecticut State.
One more score would be tacked on in the 76th minute to make the final 3-0 count.
On the scoresheet the Blue Devils out-shot Wagner (20-8) as well as garnered twice as many corner kicks (6-3).
In goal, Seahawk freshman Samantha Schueschner (Brookfield, CT/Brookfield) finished with six saves, giving her a season total of 92.
The Green & White will look to bounce back this Friday when they welcome the Red Flash of Saint Francis (PA) for the second to last game of the season. Game time is set for 2 p.m.
