Hillsborough, NJ - Freshman Dena Smith (Highland Heights, OH/Beaumont) leads the Seahawks after the first round of the Knights Invitational - hosted by Fairleigh Dickinson University - in a tie for 13th place after turning in a first round scorecard of 83 (42-41) yesterday afternoon.
Wagner as a team sits in fifth place with a combined score of 340, seven strokes behind a two-way tie for third place between Monmouth University and the University of Hartford.
Hofstra University leads the tournament with a combined team score of 325, just one stroke better than second place, host Fairleigh Dickinson University.
Other notable scores for the Seahawks were Allison Amador (So., Middle Island, NY/Longwood) who finished with an 84 (48-36) - in a tie for 15th place, Caitlin Etienne (Fr., Richfield, MN/Richfield) who shot an 85 (43-42), good enough for a 17th place tie, and Emily Noelker (Sr., Southbury, CT/Pomperaug) who finished the first round with an 88 (44-44).
Tomorrow will mark the second and final round of the tournament at the par 71, 5,804-yard Royce Springs Golf Club.
