Amster's Win Not Enough In 6-1 Loss At Saint Peter's

Jersey City, NJ - The Wagner men's tennis team lost by a 6-1 score to Saint Peter's. The loss drops the Seahawks to 1-5 while the Peacocks stay undefeated at 3-0-1.

Senior Adam Amster (Concord, MA / Concord-Carlisle) picked up his first win of the season in thrilling fashion, defeating JJ Gramatica at No. 1 singles 3-6, 6-4, 10-8. Sophomore John LeBlanc (Staten Island, NY / Tottenville) lost in straight sets, 6-2, 6-1, to Serge Igel at No. 2 singles. At third singles, sophomore Ben Serbiak (Washington Crossing, PA / Holy Ghost Prep) was blanked 6-0, 6-0 by Peter Czajka. Sophomore Byron Clohessy also was shut out at No.4 singles, losing to Tony Wilkey. Playing at the No. 5 spot for the first time this year, junior Sheldon Wilson lost to Chris Frakes 6-0, 6-0. Freshman Charles Laquidara fared no better at No. 6 singles, losing by the same 6-0, 6-0 score to Jake Baranowski.

Saint Peter's captured the doubles' point after winning all three matches.

Wagner concludes their fall season on Thursday when they host Rider at 3 pm.
