Farmingdale, NY - Freshman Dena Smith (Highland Heights, OH/Beaumont) had two consecutive rounds of 85 to finish tied for third place among all golfers competing in the two-day Hofstra Invitational that concluded yesterday afternoon. She helped lead the Seahawks to a third place finish with a team score of 731 just behind the Hofstra Blue team (696) and Kutztown University (687) who claimed the title.
Also finishing in the top ten individually for the Green & White was sophomore Allison Amador (Middle Island, NY/Longwood) who shot an opening round 86 followed by a final round 90 pitting her in a tie for eighth place.
Freshman Caitlin Etienne (Richfield, MN/Richfield) finished in a tie for 13th (98/86) while junior Jennifer Petrotta (Staten Island, NY/Susan E. Wagner) rounded out the group with a 24th place finish (100/101).
The tournament was held at the prestigious Bethpage State Park Red Course. The "Black Course" was the site of the 2002 U.S. Open and will host the championship again in June of 2009.
