Oct. 13, 2007

Box Score

Staten Island, NY - The Wagner College Women's Soccer team dropped a Northeast Conference game this afternoon, succumbing to the Blackbirds of Long Island University (6-5-1, 2-1-0 NEC) - and a two-goal performance from Eleri Earnshaw - by a 2-0 score. The Seahawks move to a record of (3-8-1, 1-2-0 NEC) on the year.

Earnshaw scored her first goal of the game for the Blackbirds at the 37 minute mark when she capitalized off a one-on-two breakaway opportunity and deposited the ball past freshman Seahawk freshman goalkeeper Samantha Schueschner (Brookfield, CT/Brookfield) in the right side of the net.

Earnshaw, a senior defender from Wales, would score her second goal of the game just after halftime in the 55th minute when she caught the Seahawks' defense off guard on a free kick at the top of the box.

For the game, both teams finished knotted in the shots category at eight apiece while LIU was called for 11 fouls to Wagner's five.

The Seahawks will look to bounce back this coming Friday when they host NEC rival Sacred Heart University at Wagner College Stadium. Game time is set for 3 p.m.
