BRONX, NY - The Wagner College men's tennis team was felled 7-0 by Fordham in the season opener for both teams at the Hawthorn/Rooney Courts.
Junior Adam Amster (Concord, MA / Concord-Carlisle) dropped a 6-1, 6-0 decision at No. 1 singles. Freshman John LeBlanc (Staten Island, NY / Tottenville) fell in a hard-fought match at second singles by a 6-4, 6-1 count. Classmate Ben Serbiak (Washington Xing, PA / Holy Ghost Prep) was shut out at No. 3 by Mike Misiti 6-0, 6-0. At No. 4, graduate student Robert Kiley (Greenlawn, NY / Hofstra University) lost 6-1, 6-0 to Dallas Harting. Freshman Kevin Callaghan fell 6-0, 6-0 to Pat Tool at No. 5 while junior Will Shuler (Springfield, MA / Central Springfield) was also blanked by Peter Slucky at No. 6.
The Seahawks lost the doubles' point as all three Fordham pairs won.
The Green & White will next in action at noon on Saturday, September 16 when they head to Delaware State.
