STATEN ISLAND, NY - Playing without their No. 1 and No. 2 players for the second-straight match, the Wagner College Seahawks lost to Long Island 7-0 in Staten Island yesterday, April 7. With the loss, Wagner falls to 3-11 and 2-4 in the Northeast Conference while the Blackbirds even their record at 8-8 and are 2-0 in the NEC.

Senior Megan Owen (Central Islip, NY / Central Islip) fell to Jessica Loose at No. 1 in straight sets, 6-0, 6-2. At second singles, sophomore Aarti Mahtani (Montego Bay, JA / Saint Andrew's) was set down 6-0, 6-1 by Merve Koksal. Classmate Pooja Patel (East Greenwich, RI / East Greenwich) was blanked 6-0, 6-0 at No. 3 by Krystina Bachner. At the four spot, Ashley Harvey defeated sophomore Marie Crane (Cheshire, CT / Cheshire) 6-0, 6-0. At No. 5 singles, freshman Emily Boyd (Stratham, NH / Exeter Area) was defeated by Amy Hosotsuji 6-0, 6-0. Senior Kim Pecinovsky (Plympton, MA / Silver Lake Regional) also fell 6-0, 6-0 to Xenia Roman at No. 6 singles.

In doubles play, Owen and Mahtani fell at No.1 to Loose and Bachner 8-0. Patel and Crane also fell 8-0 to Koksal and Harvey. Rounding out the doubles action, Boyd and Pecinovsky lost to Hosotsuji and Andrea Pertab 8-2 at No. 3.
